Records relating to the operation of pest houses for persons suffering from contagious diseases; reports of outbreaks of disease in Portland, of treatment for specific cases, and of sanitation measures applied to stem the spread of the disease; records of sanitary inspections of dairies and public markets. Documents of special note include: records relating to the appointment of a woman physician, Dr Victoria Hampton, to head the Board of Health, 1904; and records of measures taken to prevent introduction of bubonic plague into Portland from San Francisco, 1907.
