An article regarding a meeting of the Silver Shirts where Roy Zachary, national Silver Shirt leader, repeated his old threat to kill the president in the Portland meeting. A committee from the Portland Industrial Union Council asked Chief of Police Harry Niles why his policemen attended the recent Silver Shirt and Nazi Bund meeting. Niles said that he always has police officers present at meetings, "to be sure nothing happens." Niles also says it isn't his job when Fascist gangsters threaten to kill President Roosevelt - it's the job of the Federal authorities.
