News clippings regarding a students staged protest parade. Students from several Portland colleges paraded through the downtown area with banners protesting the proposed draft and universal military training as outlined by President Truman. The parade followed a rally held at the Jewish Community center. Nearly 150 people participated in the parade. Participants included students from Reed, Vanport, Multnomah, Lewis and Clark colleges, University of Portland and Museum art school. Includes newsprint image of : the parade with students holding signs and the American flag ; dissenters parade - headed by Bill Lewis, Reed college student, a protest parade leaves the Jewish Community center. Carrying "Fight the Draft" placard is Marshall Cohen, also a Reed student. The color bearer is Dave Zohn, Lincoln high school student ; Portland college students warm to their task of denouncing president's plea for compulsory military service by singing songs ; Reed college instructor, Lloyd Reynolds, talks to assembly of students from four Portland colleges.
