This series contains an oral history with author Phyllis Reynolds, a long time volunteer with Portland Parks and Recreation Division of Urban Forestry and the Hoyt Arboretum. Reynolds was one of the founding members of the Portland Heritage Tree Committee (1993) and chaired the Committee from 1999 to 2006. She served as the Urban Forestry Commissioner for Portland for ten years. Her publications include "Hoyt Arboretum, Its Story" and "Trees of Greater Portland." In 2024, she received the State of Oregon's Maynard Drawson Award, a a life-time achievement award that recognizes people who contribute to their local communities, raising awareness, support, and appreciation for heritage trees. This series contains a video interview with Phyllis Reynolds conducted by David Hedberg of Outdoor History Consulting, partially funded by Portland Parks and Recreation, Urban Forestry Division. A transcript and field notes are included.
