Report of Committee appointed to inquire into the possibility of relieving the City of Portland of an annual general tax levy for the disposal of garbage' commending 1. An immediate tonnage disposal fee should be assessed for the collection of garbage so that immediate revenue may inure to the city. 2. That garbage collection should be fixed by city ord. 3. That of the three methods referred to for collection of garbage the City maintain the present system of private collectors, for a period of six months. 4. That garbage collection service be improved.
