Be it ordained by the city council of the city of Portland : that an election be held at the City Hall on Monday the 26th day of May AD 1851, at which the legal voters in said city are requested to vote for or against a special tax for the purpose of procuring a fire engine and other necessary apparatus for the extinguishment of fires. The polls to be opened at 9 a.m. and remain open until 4 p.m.
