Date is circa. The writing on the photo says "hello Chief Twogood". Chief Merritt Twogood was the 2nd full time Fire Chief of the Boise Fire Department from September 1905 to April 1909. On Sept. 1, 1903, the City Hall Station was replaced by the Central Station, built on the corner of Sixth and Idaho streets. The Central Station building still stands although it has not been a firehouse for many years. The Mayor and City Council passed an ordinance requiring the Fire Chief to be a full-time position in September 1903. E.B. Tage was hired as the first full-time Fire Chief on November 1, 1903, replacing part-time Chief Major Liddell who did not accept the job. Chief Tage held the job until August 1905.
