I’m pleased to provide you with this copy of the 2007-08 State of the River Report that will be presented to Council on January 7, 2009.

As you know, each year the Report highlights the river-related actions of the City and its partners, tracks progress toward our river vision, and identifies actions that will be taken in the coming year.

I hope you agree the Report offers a helpful window through which the Council and the community may view the truly remarkable work being done to care for the river and revitalize our riverfront.

While there is much yet to accomplish, clearly our work is paying dividends in cleaner water, better habitat, more community access, and vibrant new waterfront districts.

It’s been a privilege and a pleasure to work alongside you these past nine years to reclaim and celebrate the river. I wish you the very best in carrying forward the River Renaissance vision.
