Oregon City kicks off three waterfront projects
Posted: Tuesday, June 17, 2008
The city of Oregon City will host a groundbreaking celebration for three of its waterfront enhancement projects that are scheduled to begin construction this month.
The projects being celebrated are the McLoughlin Boulevard Enhancement, Phase 1; the Willamette River Trail Segment and Jon Storm Park. All three projects work to improve environmentally sensitive community access to the Willamette River.
Enhancements to McLoughlin Boulevard include roadway improvements, pedestrian and bike access improvements, landscaping and installation of public art.
The Willamette River Trail project is an expansion of the Willamette River Water Trail, the first stretch of which extends 35 miles from Buena Vista Ferry to Wheatland Ferry.
The Jon Storm Park project consists of improvements to an existing waterfront site, including street work, concrete walkways, landscaping, metal work and picnic shelters.
The event is free and open to the public. It will be held on Monday, June 23 at 10 a.m. along the Willamette River waterfront, south of the Abernethy Bridge on Clackamette Drive in Oregon City.
