Michael and Gil,
This is a quick update on the State of the River Report. Please note I’ve attached a new cover letter for the Report for your review (if you can, comments by the end of this week would be great).
Some highlights:
• The closer coordination with BES in terms of information gathering and report coordination is going well.
• The response rate from contributors has been so-so, but sufficient for reporting.
• Ralph is creating the first layout draft, which will be available for contributor review next week.
• I plan sending a revised draft to P&D, the Mayor and other Council members, and the Planning Commission the week of October 20th (it could be earlier, depending on the extent of comments on the first draft; Gil, you’d get a review copy at this time, though we can provide one earlier if more convenient.)
• The soonest we can get on the P&D Directors agenda is October 23rd. This will be a joint presentation with BES on our reports. This meeting would also be when we briefed P&D on Riverfest.
• We’d present to Council in late November or early December—again, this would be a joint affair with BES’ Watershed Management Plan Annual Report.
Some questions:
• I have not yet talked to Joan about briefing the Planning Commission. Last year we presented them with the report in December, after we went to Council. If we want the briefing before Council, we’d likely be looking at the October 28 Commission meeting—if there’s room on the agenda. Please advise.
• All our Reports have featured quotes from the Mayor—I’m working on one now for Mayor Potter; do we also want to try to include one from the Mayor-elect?
Thanks.
