(helps to organize Willamette Superfund Field Day in September, interested in incorporating with Riverfest, as is the Citizen Advisory Group (CAG))

Both helm and core approved a 10 day event, roughly from Thursday August the 28th (symphony concert) to Sunday September 7th (Dragonboat races)

 

Review and finalize Event Plan (see Wisteria handout)

Need to organize event dates and times in a Calendar form

 

Possible events

Jerry (Waverly Yacht Club/Columbia river Yachting Assn) talked with

•  Willamette Jetboats (Andy will do 3 ½ hour rides before 11am, cost estimate $300 each, 60 people each time)

•  Sternwheeler, PT Boat and the Maritime Museum all interested

 

 

Sarah (Ecotrust) Stephanie (SHIFT) organizing a people parade with a river theme

 

Ella (SHIFT) organizing bike rides that ended or focused on the river throughout the week or during the weekend events, including Breakfast on the Bridge last Friday in August.

 

Alan (OT) will ask OMSI about a free day midweek, or perhaps hosting a lecture series.

 

Rachael (Port) could offer week day or weekend tours of facilities, the Working Waterfront Coalition might be interested in hosting something,

 

Sandy (Willamette Falls) would like to have a booth at the community fair. Mentioned connection with Michael at WyEast Expeditions – big canoe tours at falls.

 

Ken’s email - Sailing Club regatta – clarify details.

 

Rick (river renaissance) - Bridge Walk by Sharon Woodwortman

 

Lesile (Southwaterfront) OHSU and Umpqua are interested. OHSU will have free tram day. Alluded to doing more, they just need an event to happen there.

 

Lecture and keynote speaker ideas –

•  Judy EPA mentioned Lower Willamette Group 7 minute video on river bathymetry,

•  BES Willamette History film,

•  Chet Orloaf – Historical Society

 

Committee meeting dates

Education and Portland paddle group will meet first week in February. OT Education Staff to confirm date……

Sarah & Stephanie to meet about parade ideas

Jerry will organize a River Transportation meeting in March

Ken is leading talks with Oregon Symphony, Sailing Regatta – possible separate meetings?

Jeff is leading triathlon and Opening Day Celebration?
