Leadership – Chairperson, Secretary, Treasurer

-Discussion of potential of tabling this discussion for upcoming Helm meeting…

-Michael nominated Jeff to Chair

-further discussion and decision for Helm meeting on 12/13.

Discussion of Date – Labor Day vs. Sept. 5-6 vs. Week Long Event

-Triathlon can only be on Labor Day weekend because Pints to Pasta on 7th and ALSA walk on 9/14…

Labor day:

-people out of town, but people also come in to town (holiday has both pros and cons)

-kids still out of school

-keep leadership of OR Trout & Triathlon

-boaters and creative community out of town

-very close to Paddle Oregon event lead by WRK

9/5-7:

-Dragonboat race synergy/partnership!

-school is back in session

-conflict with TBA, MusicFest NW, Muddyboot

-less involvement from Triathlon & OR Trout

Discussion of spreading event over a full week or multiple weeks! Get benefit of co-branding, still though pulling interest from river/special interest communities…

Review of week-long event plan – Jeff comments that it feels like the Portland Triathlon on Labor Day and then Riverfest on 9/5-7.

Comments to focus on doing something smaller on just one weekend and doing it well.

Discussion of Muddy Boot sharing a theme with us – Rivers, Watersheds etc.

Doug discussion of OR Maritime Museum

Bill: Boat Parade, Dragonboat Races, Paddle – Good river events – let’s stay focused…

Amy: use Triathlon as opening event, PR, media etc. – driver to next weekend’s events…

Art/Tie-in at Triathlon – Finishline Installation, Dragonboat display, Seawall Art that opens on Sunday, then is on display all week!
