1. Contract Amendment

I have a copy signed by Alan ready for your signature.

2. Opening Ceremony

Alan Horton was concerned that Joe Whitworth, Executive Director of Oregon Trout, wasn’t invited—he’d like that to happen; the thinking being that OT has been as involved and committed as other env. organizations that ARE invited (Audubon, Houck, etc.). I encouraged Alan to talk to you.

Helm would welcome a better idea of:

•  where and when to arrive (11:30?)

•  “how this will look and work” (although they have faith it will be well-executed, they’re curious--will there be a stage; how will people eat (standing up?); after the River parade/procession, will the Helm spokespeople be gathered to be available to the media? etc.)

RSVPs from Helm:

•  Kip Wadden, Parks

•  Michael Montgomery, River Renaissance

•  Jeremy Solly, South Waterfront

•  Lesley Poirier, South Waterfront

•  Alan Horton, Oregon Trout

•  Jeff Henderson, Portland Triathlon

•  Jacqueline Rais, Planning Bureau

•  (not present and need to be asked: Rachel Wray, Port; Amy Morrison, Riverkeeper; Bill Young, Willamette River Fun(d); Ken McLarty, Columbia Crossings).

•  (We should probably also count Eden and Christine Appleberry)

3. Community Fair

General: Although Jeff has faith that it will all turn out well, he’s nervous about having the implementation of his permit (or at least part of it) in so many hands—and hands he doesn’t necessarily know. He’s quick to say it’s much better than relying on Jim, but he’s still on-edge. Jeff didn’t have any specific suggestions to make it better—but I was wondering if a simple directory of “hands” with contact info, as well as artfully directed cc’s, might not offer a little relief. I may try getting this done on Friday.

Jeff had already spoken with Sharri and indicated he’d call her again right away. I gave him a list of Sharri-related questions (see below). But he HAS NOT been in contact with the hotel…

•  Has anyone talked to the Riverplace Hotel regarding use of the turnaround for CF loading/unloading? (recommendations regarding how not to clog it up/make it unavailable for other uses welcome).

•  Confirming:

o  Jeff is ordering tents, tables, coverings, chairs, dumpsters/recycling—enough for both CF and Triathlon

o  Jeff is coordinating set up of the stage, sound and electricity.

•  Does the sound guy have a CD player?

•  Would it be possible to order 3 handtrucks from one of Jeff’s contacts to help truck CF stuff around—or should we order separately for CF purposes?

•  The CF starts at noon and goes to 4:00 (that’s when it’s open to the public)—so we don’t need a band before noon—but would it be good for the Triathlon to have one playing in the morning?

•  Sally strongly recommends having the Triathlon award ceremony start right at noon—will that represent a problem?

•  What the status of our total security needs (Saturday, overnight, Sunday a.m., Sunday p.m to close of CF)…
