Plans & Action was created to meet the needs of small, medium or large companies that want a qualified person to plan a special event--whether it’s a meeting, seminar, trade show, party--you name it. Many times people would like to plan something and they do not have the time, staff, or the creative skills to do it right. That’s where Carolyn comes in.
Past experience :
11 years at the Oregon State Bar, planning educational programs,
motivational events, golf tournaments, runs, family activities.
Coordination and management of all transportation needs for Nike’s
World Sales Meeting in June, 1997. Moved 10,000 people in one
night to Memorial Coliseum by buses
Oversight of the Tektronix Master’s Program in Hawaii, 1997, 300 people
Oversight of Oregon Dental Association Annual Conference for 4,000 plus, 4/98
Registration/logistics of Everywoman’s Money Conference for 2,000 plus, 9/98
Registration for Oregon Dental Association Annual Conference for 4,000 plus, 4/99
In charge of hospitality suite for Tesoro at the Mt Hood Jazz Festival. Planned all
components of the hospitality suite such as ordering food, linens, flowers, etc. 8/99
In charge of hospitality suite and display at the Pacific Oil Conference in Reno,
Nevada for Tesoro. Components involved: lodging, food, linens, the event,
the shipping/delivery and set up of a large display, plus coordination with the
staff from the Pacific Oil Conference on all the areas that needed to be covered for
a major sponsor for the event. Coordinating people for golf, events, bus tour
and the conference. 9/99.
Fund Raiser for The Grotto. This was organized with the Italian Businessmen’s
organization. This was a first for them, to hire someone and a women to help them
accomplish their goal. Raised 98,000 dollars.
On going events for Tesoro—Washington Oil Marketers Association, Mt.
Hood Jazz Festival, Pacific Oil Conference—all in 2000.
Mt. Hood Community College-March - June, 2000, taught Convention and
meeting management.
Construction Expo- Planned, organized, and oversaw 27 seminars on construction,
March 9-11, 2001, Fargo, North Dakota.
BSNUG- organization from California-planned dinners, entertainment, and venue,
April 5, 2001, Portland, Oregon
Cookie Excursion- Planned vendors incentives to increase traffic for their trade
show, planned off site dinners and final party based on Turn of the Century Fair,
July 2001, Portland, Oregon.
Sweet Adelines Tours- set up and executed tours over six days for the International
competition of Sweet Adelines (8-9,000 attendees) October, 2001
Construction Expo—Planned, organized and oversaw over 30 seminars on
construction, January 24-26, 2002
Rite Aid Health Fair-arranged and coordinated all transportation needs for Rite Aid.
This involved meet/greet at airport, bus transportation, limo service for VIP’s and
stars over a four day period. Attendance at the fair for two days was over 38,000
people, May 17-20, 2002.
Legion of Valor-helped with the planning, fund raising, and coordination with this
event. Over 300 congressional medal honorees from all over the United States
held their conference in Portland. This included tours, transportation, hotel site,
off site venues and special ceremonial events to honor them. August, 2002
USS Davison, arranged a week of tours across Oregon, their dinner, site selection
of hotel and entertainment. 70 people, September 9-14, 2002
Governor’s Inauguration Celebration, January 2003, provided and printed name
badges for over 1500 people and staffed the area for pick-up of badges that night
Office of Adult Literacy, arranged tours, shuttle service from hotel to off site venue
for dinner, reception, April, 2003
Portland Business Alliance, site selection, contract negotiation, food
negotiation for lunch and breaks, audio visual and overall in charge of
one day training for 175 members, May, 2003
NASBA-cpa’s from around the country, arranged tours and off site dinner
and reception for 164 people, June, 2003
Armed Forces Reunion-provided registration and guides for tours for
five days. In charge of loading buses, time schedules, August, 2003
American Association of Cereal Chemists—arranged tours for five days, arranged
décor for the conference September, 2003
NABT-National Association of Biology Teachers, arranged tours, special field trips,
registration help, ticket sales and merchandise sales help, October, 2003
Arello-Association of Real Estate Law License Officials—planned entertainment,
reception for 265 people at the Lawrence Gallery, tours of the city and a President’s
brunch for special guests, October, 2003
American Society for Precision Engineering, arranged golf tournament, tours,
dinner for 350 at OMSI and shuttle buses, October 2003
Teddy Awards, February 2004, provided on-site registration and name badges
Armed Forces Reunions, arranged tours for veterans all across the state of Oregon, May, 2004
Society of Petroleum Evaluation Engineers, arranged tours, entertainment and
helped with meal suggestions, June 2004
Customer Service Training—State of Oregon’s training for the hospitality industry.
Trained two classes of 30 or more at the POVA Trade Show, February, 2005
On going project with Tranportation Review Board, planning conference, tours,
special receptions, audio visual needs, speaker needs, October 2003- present until conference
in 2005. Conference was held April 24-28, 2005 with 400 plus people
MEDS-PDN, coordinate local meetings, take care of speaker, audio visual,
registration and on site duties, about 5-8 programs a year in 2004, on-going
programs for 2005 and 2006
Vista Travel, arranged city tour in Portland, trip to Bonneville Dam, city tour in
Seattle, Vancouver B.C. and Victoria B. C. for a group of non-english
speaking tourists from Cuba/Mexico. Provided or found interpreters
and guides for each city, May 2005
American Society for Engineering Education, arranged ten tours of different
places in Portland area, June 2005
Association of Medical Colleges-“A Slice of Life”—planned one full day trip in the
Columbia River Gorge, dinner and lunches, at Timberline Lodge, June 2005
CEESE Tours, planned six major tours of city and locations out of the city for
attendees, July 2005
TIRA—planned meetings, took care of hotel room block, taxi arrival and departure,
budget, and daily events, in Sao Paulo, Brazil, October 2005
