SUBJECT:  Weekly report on the progress of the Lents Business Survey

Basic Logistics:  

A Field Manager was hired. She has already trained all the canvassers.

Two full-time experienced canvassers were hired to work from

9:00AM-5:00PM. They will be contacting businesses while the Marshall High School

Students are in school.

Ten Marshall High School students were hired to canvass from 3:00PM-

6:00PM. We rented a van to provide them with transportation and for our Field Manager

to be able to watch them work. The students will also go out in pairs for safety reasons.

Canvass Totals:

Number of completed surveys: approx. 75 (will be exact amount when I send this report

to Sarah)

Number of businesses contacted: approx. 215 (will be an exact amount when I send this

report to Sarah)

Questions:

1. What information do you want to include in the Excel database?

2. Do you want me to create more than one Excel database?

3. Southeast Uplift uses Mac's and PDC uses PC computers, in which format Mac or PC

do you want the database to be created in.

4. If a business refuses to answer a question should the canvassers write "Refused" next

to the question or do they need to terminate the survey?

General:

 The canvass is off to a great start. We are on schedule to meet your deadlines. The students are eager to work on this project and we will make sure it is a positive

experience for them.
