Meeting Notes:
FTAP
Foster Target Area Project
Special Projects & Services Team
Monday, July 6, 1998
6:30 - 8:00 p.m.
Carrie & Rudy's Home
6815 SE Ramona
Attending: Laura Feldman, Shanna Eller (SEUL), Darla Rumelhart, Barbara Nickila, Carrie and Rudy Currier, Alice Williams
Site Logistics: Shanna brought maps of the Mt. Scott Celebration displaying the area where our booth will be located, as well as the other groups to be located nearby. Rudy and Carrie said they would walk over after the meeting and check out the area and confirm the best spot for our booth.
General Display: Shanna reported that the Communication's team will develop a brochure for the booth, and that the Research team would be creating a tri-fold display with photos past and present of the target area. She said they'd be able to have photos of businesses by the 15th.
Shanna passed out flyers for the celebration. She also reported that the Mt. Scott Center has no sound equipment.
Balloons: Alice contacted three different companies for her balloon research. Balloons with logo it turns out are too expensive, as much as $170.00, not including helium and clips. The team decided to go with 200 plain green balloons. She found out that Foster Rental has helium ($50/tank). Shanna will contact them about for a donation of helium.
Carrie, through her craft business, works with a wholesaler who might be able to donate balloons as well as the logo process. She will check on that. She also has yo-yo balloons that she is willing to donate, and streamers.
Cake Walk: Rudy described his plan for the cake walk to the team. Twelve chairs will mark of the walk. Each chair will be decorated with photo of a business or site in the target area. Business which will be contacted for donations will be asked if they want to sponsor a chair by donating goods or gift certificates. They can decorate the chair or we'll ask the history team for a photo of the business. Rudy will provide music, spinning wheel, board for displaying prizes and signs announcing the walk. Chairs will come from SEUL. Team members will take turns leading the walk. Donations for (cup) cakes will be sought from neighbors as well as business. The number of gift certificates and cakes we have will determine the frequency of the walk.
Volunteers: Rudy said he'll help set up the event at 10:00 a.m. Alice, Barb, Laura and Shanna will be there all day. Barb will call other FTAP volunteers to see if they can help staff the booth. She will try to get a Community Service Crew for clean-up after the event.
Donations: Went over the donation list Shanna provided, and Darla, Barb and Laura marked businesses they would contact for donations.
Next Meeting: Monday, July 13th, 6:30 p.m. at Rudy and Carrie's home. lf
