Making a Difference
I must nominate Marjorie McGee of WowDHEC for the advocacy award because of her contribution to the disabled community. She has made a difference in the lives of many women, including my own.
Marjorie’s dedication to empowering disabled women through education and training resulted in over 10 women becoming Community Health Workers. Today, they are giving back to their communities throughout the city and state.
Marjorie also advocated for the disabled community to be represented in regional emergency preparedness efforts by writing a report that focused on how members of the disability community communicate, and the communication channels that should be used in the event of an emergency.
Her contribution to the disabled community is huge and she definitely deserves this award.
