Dear Marjorie,

Congratulations! You have been chosen as a recipient for the 2009 “Making a Difference” in disability award. A selection committee of community members selected you to receive an award in the Advocacy category.

The “Making a Difference” in disability award recognizes your outstanding contributions that have helped improve the livability of Portland for all people with disabilities. On behalf of the City of Portland and the Portland Commission on Disability, I would like to extend to you and your guests an invitation to join us at 4:30pm on Wednesday, October 15th at the Connecting Communities event to be held at the Lloyd Center Doubletree hotel, where you will be presented with the award for your dedication and commitment to people with disabilities.

If you are not able to attend, please let us know who you would like to accept the award in your honor. Please contact Teckla Anderson at (503) 823-3881 or teckla.anderson@ci.portland.or.us with that information.

The Connecting Communities event will run from 4:30pm – 7:30pm. The awards will be presented at approximately 5:30pm by members from the Portland City Council and Multnomah County Chair Wheeler. I am including a flyer regarding the event. Please RSVP by September 30th to Rebecca Clements at (503) 261-1266. Let her know that you are a City of Portland “Making a Difference” award recipient.

Once again, congratulations, and thank you for all of your efforts to make a difference in the lives of people with disabilities.
