RE: Fred Meyer’s Involvement with the January Fix-It-Fair
Now in its 13th year, the Fix-It-Fair is a City of Portland neighborhood event presented to help residents solve common household problems. The City of Portland Energy Office is the main sponsor in partnership with OSU Extension Service, Oregon Office of Energy, Pacific Power and NW Natural Gas. On average the Fair yields anywhere from 350-650 participants from neighborhoods across the City.
The Fair features a variety of FREE services, including:
◻ Free insulation for qualified homes
◻ Free weatherization and water conservation kits
◻ Free child-care
◻ Free hot dogs and soda
◻ 16 different—45-minute how-to classes taught throughout the day. I have enclosed last November’s brochure containing a class description and schedule.
◻ An exhibit area featuring over 30 different displays. To date the exhibitors are as follows:

Fair Promotions:
◻ Direct-mail brochures will be sent to over 24,000 households in the neighborhoods surrounding the event (Madison, Parkrose, Rose City, Cully and Sumner).
◻ Announcements have been sent to all local community calendars, such as the Oregonian’s Home and Garden section and local TV stations.
◻ Press releases will be distributed to all local papers
◻ All Fair partners will receive brochures and poster on display/distribute the weeks prior to the Fair
◻ Fliers announcing the Fair were stuffed into the South Madison neighborhood association’s paper which distributes to 2,500 Madison area residents-I have enclosed a copy of this flier.
