Visit with neighbors and learn how to save money and resources on Saturday, January 23 from 8:30 am to 2 pm at the Neighborhood Fix-it Fair. The Fair takes place at Roosevelt High School, 6941 North Central. Representatives from local government and nonprofit organizations will answer questions and teach residents simple, effective ways to fix up their homes and reduce bills.
The Fair features 35 exhibits and a number of classes which address a wide array of topics, including:
▪ Home weatherization ▪ Water conservation ▪ Insulation and furnace basics ▪ Home repair ▪ Crime prevention ▪ Composting ▪ Car Sharing ▪ Downspout disconnection ▪ Pesticide-free gardening | Home health hazards ▪ Tree pruning ▪ House financing ▪ Bike maintenance & repair ▪ Low-interest home repair loans & residential tax credits ▪ Lead abatement ▪ Recycling |
Free water saving materials will be distributed in the Water Conservation Workshop. At the Weatherization workshop, Portland residents can collect free weatherization materials while supplies last, and qualifying low-income residents can sign up for free insulation services.
