Fix-it-Fair Exhibit Information
The Fix-it-Fair started as a neighborhood energy fair to encourage participants to learn about energy efficiency and conservation as well as to invite the participation in a low-income weatherization program called Block by Block. The Fair offers a chance for Block-by-Block participants to take the required Weatherization course and get a free basic weatherization kit. It also offers education and outreach to citizens on key areas that help them save money and improve their property and neighborhood.
Who participates in Fix-it-Fairs?
Over the years the Energy Office has gained more and more partners who want to offer one hour classes in diverse subjects such as natural gardening, bicycle repair, crime prevention, pruning, and water conservation. Our exhibitors range from city bureaus, to Metro, to neighborhood outreach programs related to the theme of environmental protection and conservation through better living. We use a variety of marketing tools to reach both neighborhood residents and the larger community including door hangers, posters, and media. Fair goers can enjoy free hot dogs offered by Northwest Natural Gas and the Fire Bureau Fire Engine tours for kids and adults as well as free childcare during the Fair.
