Dear Workshop Leader:

Portland Energy Office is now in the planning stages of our annual community event that reach low income families, the annual Fix-it-Fair. Our neighborhood Fix it Fair started as an energy fair to encourage families to participate in our weatherization program called Block by Block but has grown to include many partners. Once again we are looking for partners that want to offer citizens a class or workshop to help them save money and improve their neighborhood or the environment. In the past you have offered a class in Weatherization and we look forward to having you provide this valuable program again this year at our two fairs:

Whitaker Middle School      Roosevelt High School

5700 NE 39th          6941 N. Central

Saturday, November 21, 1998      Saturday, January 23, 1998

9:00 am to 2:00 pm        9:00 am to 2:00 pm

The Fair will once again offer several short workshops that are about 45 minutes long and involve between 20-40 people depending upon interest. We encourage presenters to share handouts and any freebies that they may be able to give to participants and provide time for questions and comments.

Our fairs draw a lot of involvement from both the neighborhood and the entire city. We expect between 350-650 participants and do extensive marketing and outreach that will highlight the workshops we offer. Our part of this partnership is to market the Fair, provide child care and facilities and organize involvement. We ask our partners to be prepared to set up their classrooms, bring all necessary hand outs or freebies, and share in promotion through your usual channels. We look forward to working with you and hope this will be another great Fair.

Please fill out the enclosed form and return it to Jessica Yang by October 15 either by faxing it to the Energy Office at 823-5370 or sending it to our address. Feel free to call Jessica Yang at 823-7787 or Dave Tooze at 823-7582 for more information.

Sincerely,

Jessica Yang
