*Authorize a grant agreement with Portland Police Bureau Sunshine Division in an amount not to exceed $28,000 (Ordinance)
The City of Portland ordains:
Section 1. The Council finds:
1. The Sunshine Division is a nonprofit organization providing assistance to individuals and families in Portland in the form of emergency food, clothing, bedding and other household items.
2. The Sunshine Division has operated with assistance and support from the City for over 85 years and both parties wish to maintain that relationship.
3. The Portland Police Bureau will allow the Sunshine Division to use City-owned vehicles: One full sized cargo van, one medium sized box truck, one 24 foot freight truck and two forklifts.
4. The police bureau will assign one sworn police officer or person to serve as the liaison between the Portland Police Bureau and the Sunshine Division. The person may be changed at anytime in the discretion of the Grantor.
NOW, THEREFORE, the Council directs:
a. The Mayor and Auditor are hereby authorized to enter into an agreement with Sunshine Division substantially in accordance with the agreement attached as Exhibit A in an amount not to exceed $28,000
Section 2. The Council declares an emergency exists because delay in proceeding with this agreement will unnecessarily deprive the City and Sunshine Division of the mutual benefits of this agreement; therefore, this ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage by the Council.
