ORDINANCE NO. 182536
Authorize application to the Recreational Trails Grant Program of the Oregon Recreation and Parks Department for a grant not to exceed $90,000 for the development of trails in Marquam Nature Park (Ordinance)
The City of Portland ordains:
Section 1. The Council finds:
1. The project that this grant would fund would upgrade key parts of the Marquam Nature Park, which includes a portion of the 40-Mile Loop Trail. This project will be a combination of new trails and restoration of existing trails which together will offer significant connections and various loop options for people to enjoy within Portland’s Marquam Nature Park.
2. Completion of this project has been a high priority for residents living near or working at Oregon Health and Sciences University with the acquisition of 90 acres of land and easements in the area by Portland Parks & Recreation over the past few years. This project will implement a key portion of the community-sponsored and City Council adopted Marquam Hill Plan (2003) and is supported by several community groups.
3. The Oregon Parks & Recreation Department administers the Recreational Trail Grant Program. This project is an appropriate project under that grant program.
NOW THEREFORE, The Council directs:
a. The Commissioner in Charge of Parks is hereby authorized to make application to the Oregon Recreation and Parks Department for a grant not to exceed $90,000.
