ORDINANCE No. 182534
*Authorize a grant agreement with Lents Neighborhood Association to support a survey of residents near Lents Park. (Ordinance)
The City of Portland ordains:
Section 1: The Council finds:
1. Lents Neighborhood Association, a recognized neighborhood association in East Portland, supports community involvement in the area surrounding Lents Park.
2. This survey will provide a better understanding of the values and interests of the residents around Lents Park, and will raise awareness of the neighborhood association and its activities. This activity is appropriately funded through a grant agreement authorizing Lents Neighborhood Association to use the funds for this purpose.
3. Funding for increased community outreach such as this project was included in ONI’s Fiscal Year 2008-2009 General Fund budget for the East Portland Neighborhoods.
4. The City of Portland, through its Office of Neighborhood Involvement, wishes to continue its long-term commitment to increasing the number and diversity of people involved in their community. Lents Neighborhood Association is qualified to provide the desired services in the manner and structure required by the City.
NOW, THEREFORE, the Council directs:
a. The Director of the Office of Neighborhood Involvement is authorized to enter into a grant agreement substantially in conformance to the agreement attached as Exhibit A, to fund an neighborhood survey in the amount of $7,500 in Fiscal Year 2008-2009
Section 2. The Council declares an emergency exists because any delay in providing community involvement activities in a timely manner will be against the public interest; therefore, this Ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage by the Council.
