ORDINANCE No. 182491

* Create a new Nonrepresented classification of Planning and Sustainability Director, which is exempt from classified service. (Ordinance)

The City of Portland ordains:

Section 1. The Council finds:

1.  In accordance with the policies established by the City Council and based on a classification and compensation review, the Bureau of Human Resources is creating a new Nonrepresented classification, effective January 7, 2009.

2.  This is a Bureau Director classification and is therefore excluded from the classified service, as provided by the City Charter and Human Resources Administrative Rules.

NOW, THEREFORE, the Council directs:

a.  The following classification is being created:

JCN  Job Class          Range     Effective Date

7025  Planning and Sustainability Director     17    January 7, 2009

b.  Employees hired into this classification shall be excluded from the classified service.

Section 2.  The Council declares that an emergency exists in order that this classification and compensation action may occur without delay; therefore, this ordinance shall be in force and effect from after its passage by the Council.
