ORDINANCE No. 182477

*Allow City Council to hold its regular meeting on February 4, 2009 at the Bureau of Maintenance at 2929 N Kerby (Ordinance; waive Code Section 3.02.010)

The City of Portland ordains:

Section 1.  The Council finds:

1.  Portland City Code Section 3.02.010 requires that regular meetings of the City Council will be held in Council Chambers.

2.  By holding City Council meeting scheduled February 4, 2009 at the Bureau of Maintenance at 2929 N Kerby rather than Council Chambers, the Council will exhibit respect and gratitude for the employees who went above and beyond their required job responsibilities.

NOW, THEREFORE, the Council directs:

a.  The requirement in Portland City Code Chapter 3.02.010 that regular meetings of the City Council be held in Council Chambers is hereby waived for February 4, 2009, so that the regular meeting of the City Council may be held at the Bureau of Maintenance.

Section 2.  The Council declares that an emergency exists because delay in the effective date would prevent the City Council from holding its regular meeting on February 4, 2009 at the Bureau of Maintenance; therefore, this ordinance shall be in full force and effect from its date of passage by Council.
