ORDINANCE No. 182459

 

*Accept grant for $50,000 from Northwest Health Foundation to open a conversation with public health experts, East Portland residents and other partners to identify how to support the building of healthier neighborhoods (Ordinance)

 

The City of Portland Ordains:

 

Section 1. The Council finds:

 

1.  The Northwest Health Foundation (NWHF) invited the City of Portland to apply for a capacity-building grant.

 

2.  On October 1, 2008, Ordinance No.182220 authorized the City’s Bureau of Planning to apply to NWHF for the grant to open a conversation with public health experts on how to create healthier neighborhoods through planning.

 

3.  NWHF has awarded the grant. The grant period is from March 1, 2009 to February 28, 2010. Grant funds are to be distributed on January 15, 2009 and July 15, 2009.

 

4.  The District Liaison section of the Bureau of Planning will manage the grant.

 

5.  No General Fund match is required for this grant.

NOW, THEREFORE, the Council directs:

 

a.  The Mayor is hereby authorized to accept on behalf of the City a Capacity Building Grant for $50,000 from Northwest Health Foundation.

b.  The FY 2008-09 budget is hereby amended as follows:

Fund 217007

Business Area – PN00    

Amount - $50,000

 

Section 2. The Council declares that an emergency exists because a delay would unnecessarily delay the City’s ability to perform the activities authorized by the grant; therefore, this ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage by Council.
