ORDINANCE NO. 181512

* Accept a grant from the Kinsman Foundation in the amount of $50,000 for FY 2007-08 for a repair project at Pittock Mansion (Ordinance).

The City of Portland ordains:

Section 1. The Council finds:

 1.  Portland Parks & Recreation (PP&R) and the Pittock Mansion Society  (PMS) jointly manage the Pittock Mansion as a valued city, state, and  national historic treasure.

 2.  PP&R and PMS applied to the Kinsman Foundation’s annual grant      program for a restoration project at the Pittock Mansion.

 3.  The Kinsman Foundation recognized the value of this project, found it      aligned with their priorities, and approved a grant of $50,000 to the City of    Portland for completion of this project.

 4.  The Kinsman Foundation has provided a grant agreement (attached) which    the City Attorney has approved as to form that defines the terms of the      grant. Portland Parks & Recreation is able and willing to meet the        conditions of the grant.

 5.  There is no matching fund requirement.

NOW THEREFORE, The Council directs:

a.  The Director of Portland Parks and Recreation is hereby authorized to accept on behalf of the City of Portland a Kinsman Foundation grant in the amount of $ 50,000.

Section 2. The Council declares that an emergency exists because the grant must be accepted no later than December 31, 2007. Therefore this ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage by the Council.
