ORDINANCE No. 180750
*Authorize a Historic Preservation Fund grant application for $20,000 to supplement the City historic resources program for the federal FY October 1, 2007-August 31, 2008 (Ordinance)
The City of Portland Ordains:
Section 1. The Council finds:
1. The State Historic Preservation Office (SHPO) invited the City of Portland as a Certified Local Government to apply for a Historic Preservation Fund Grant.
2. The Historic Preservation section of the Bureau of Planning is requesting the Historic Resources Fund Grant. The grant will fund projects including surveying publicly owned properties, preservation planning, and supplementing program funding for the City’s historic resources program. Funds requested for this grant total $20,000 for the federal fiscal year October 1, 2007 – August 31, 2008.
3. If the grant is approved by the SHPO, the grant award, with budgetary and work program implications, will be submitted to the City Council for the Council’s approval and acceptance.
4. This grant requires a 1:1 match of $20,000. General Fund resources committed to staffing, materials, and services of the Historic Preservation program of the Bureau of Planning and funds from the Terminal Reservoirs Program of the Water Bureau's Capital Improvement Program will supply the matching funds.
NOW, THEREFORE, the Council directs:
a. The Mayor is hereby authorized to apply to SHPO for a grant with an application substantially in the form of Exhibit A, Oregon Certified Local Government Program Grant Application, during the federal fiscal year of October 1, 2007 through August 31, 2008.
Section 2. The Council declares that an emergency exists because the deadline for forwarding the application for the grant is before February 16, 2007, and receipt of this grant will benefit the
community and support the City’s historic preservation planning program; therefore, this
Ordinance shall be in force and effect from and after its passage by the Council.
