ORDINANCE No. 180712

 

*Authorize Agreement with College of Emergency Services for Paramedic Field Experience training (Ordinance)

 

The City of Portland ordains:

 

Section 1. The Council finds:

 

1.  College of Emergency Services (CES) operates an accredited Paramedic Program that educates and trains students (Students) and it is intended to provide Students with a variety of learning experiences, including participation in Field Experiences outside CES.

 

2.  CES can improve the quality of its Paramedic Program if it is affiliated with Portland Fire & Rescue (PF&R) for Field Experiences.

 

3.  PF&R can provide a portion of CES’s Paramedic Program Field Experiences for Students.

 

4.  PF&R is willing to accept and CES is willing to assign Students to participate in the Paramedic Program Field Experience at PF&R.

 

5.  CES will pay a sum not-to-exceed $112.31 per week per student, specifically as described in Exhibit A, attached to this document.

 

NOW, THEREFORE, the Council directs:

 

 a.  The Commissioner of Public Works and Auditor are authorized to execute the agreement with Portland Community College, attached hereto as Exhibit A.

 

Section 2. The Council declares that an emergency exists because the training needs to begin as soon as possible; therefore, this ordinance shall be in force and effect from and after its passage by the Council.
