ORDINANCE No. 180708

 

Authorize Bureau Director to execute technical assistance agreements for a maximum of $3,000 each with eligible, qualified businesses to receive professional services and secure certification through the Ecological Business Program (Ordinance)

 

The City of Portland ordains:

 

Section 1.  The Council finds:

 

 1.  Public-private partnerships provide a proven model to do good work for the environment.

 

2.  The City is a partner in the Ecological Business Program that certifies automotive and landscape businesses that take voluntary steps to achieve pollution prevention.

 

3.  At times, businesses need additional support to become Ecological Business certified. The City has received a grant from the US Environmental Protection Agency in the amount of $25,000 to help pay the cost of professional services to assist eligible businesses to become certified through the Ecological Business Program.

 

4.  Qualified businesses will apply for and may receive a maximum value of $3,000 in professional services to move them to Ecological Business Certification.

 

5.  The established cost is $25,000. Funds are available in the Sewer System Operating Fund, FY 2006-07 Budget, Bureau of Environmental Services, Center Code [145-31-130], Project Number [#8374], Account No. 529000.

 

 

NOW, THEREFORE, the council directs:

 

 a.  The Director of the Bureau of Environmental Services is authorized to execute a technical assistance agreement with eligible, qualified businesses participating in the Ecological Business Program not to exceed $3,000 each.

 

 b.  The Mayor and Auditor are hereby authorized to draw and deliver warrants chargeable to the Sewer System Operating Fund Budget when demand is presented and approved by the proper authority.
