MEMORANDUM

RE:  Amend City Code to graphically update the official City seal and direct City implementation. (Ordinance; amend Code Section 1.04.010)

Over the last year P&D staff have been working with Bureau representatives to “clean-up” the City Seal so that it works better with digital technology and can easily be reduced or expanded in size and still be readable. The changes retain all of the essential characteristics of the current seal, but merely clean up the graphics to work better with current technology.

Further, the Mayor has expressed interest in ensuring that the City Seal is placed on all official City documents.

The attached ordinance readopts the City Seal to reflect the cleaned up version, requires Bureaus to use the City Seal on all official documents, and authorizes P&D to create a recommended standard set of City stationery for use by Bureaus.
