RESOLUTION No. 36294

Appoint Jerry Spegman, community member, to serve on the Citizen Review Committee for Independent Police Review, term to expire on December 3, 2005 (Resolution)

WHEREAS, the City Council adopted Ordinance 175652, June 6, 2001, establishing the Independent Police Review Division and the Citizen Review Committee;

WHEREAS, a nine-member Citizen Review Committee is responsible for ensuring impartial hearings of appeals, participating in public outreach efforts, and providing an advisory role to the Independent Police Review Division;

WHEREAS, the committee has a partial-term vacancy;

WHEREAS, from 25 applicants, an applicant was recommended by a selection committee appointed by the City Auditor;

WHEREAS, the Auditor nominated the member to Council;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council for the City of Portland, Oregon appoints to the Citizen Review Committee Jerry Spegman for a term to expire December 3, 2005.
