ORDINANCE No. 179051

* Authorize a contract and provide for payment for the construction of the Lambert Trunk Relief and Reconstruction, Project No. 6674 (Ordinance)

The City of Portland ordains:

Section 1.  The Council finds:

1.  That sewer collection system pipeline upgrades, rehabilitation and replacement work is needed to mitigate basement flooding within the Taggart sewer drainage basin.

2.  The Bureau of Environmental Services requires the furnishing of materials and labor for this project.

 3.  The established cost is $3,128,000. Funds are available in the Sewer System Operating Fund, FY 2004-05 Adopted Budget and will be requested in the FY 2005-06 Budget, Bureau of Environmental Services, Center Code 145-22-110, Project Number 6674, Account No. 567000.

NOW, THEREFORE, the council directs:

 a.  The Mayor and Auditor are authorized to execute a contract with the lowest responsible bidder for the purpose described in Section 1, in the amount of $3,128,000.

 b.  The Mayor and Auditor are hereby authorized to draw and deliver warrants chargeable to the Sewer System Operating Fund Budget when demand is presented and approved by the proper authority.

Section 2.  The Council declares that an emergency exists because a delay in proceeding with this project could lead to a delay in completing of the project on schedule. Therefore, this ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage by the Council.
