ORDINANCE No. 179043
Authorize Memorandum of Agreement with Columbia Slough Watershed Council to provide funds to the City to develop Columbia Slough watershed restoration and enhancement projects (Ordinance)
The City of Portland ordains:
Section 1. The Council finds:
1. The Columbia Slough has been identified as a water quality limited water body and the Federal Clean Water Act, Section 303 requires TMDLs to be established on water quality limited water bodies.
2. The Columbia Slough watershed encompasses valuable wetlands, riparian forests, uplands and other habitats that support the important biodiversity of the region
3. The Columbia Slough watershed encompasses 5% of Oregon’s population
4. The Lower Columbia Slough provides important habitat for native salmonids.
5. The mission of the Columbia Slough Watershed Council is “ to foster action to protect, enhance, restore and revitalize the Columbia Slough and its watershed “
NOW, THEREFORE, the council directs:
a. The Director of Environmental Services and Auditor are authorized to execute a Memorandum of Agreement with the Columbia Slough Watershed Council for the purpose described in Section 1.
