ORDINANCE No. 179037

*Amend contract with Hoffman, Hart & Wagner, LLP for outside counsel assistance. (Ordinance; amend Contract No. 35432)

The City of Portland ordains:

Section 1.  The Council finds:

1.  Outside legal counsel is required to assist the City Attorney’s Office in the matter of Liana Reyna, USDC No. 02-098, Risk No. G2001-8009-01 SK.

2.  The law firm of Hoffman, Hart & Wagner, LLP, entered into Legal Service Agreement No. 35432 to provide these services.

3.  It is necessary to increase the amount of the agreement to provide payment for advanced work on this project in the amount of $100,000.

NOW, THEREFORE, the Council directs:

a.  The City Attorney is authorized to increase Legal Services Agreement No. 35432 to provide for such legal services in the amount not to exceed $200,000.

b.  If applicable, the provisions of City Code Chapter 5.68 are waived.

c.  The Auditor is authorized to draw and deliver warrants in payment of legal services provided under this Legal Services Agreement.

Section 2.  The Council declares that an emergency exists in order to pay for legal services necessary in the matter of the Liana Reyna v City of Portland; therefore, this ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage by the Council.
