ORDINANCE NO. 179013

*Amend contract with Emmons Architects for completion of architectural and engineering services for the design and construction of Fire Station 27. (Ordinance; amend Contract No. 34320)

The City of Portland ordains:

Section 1.  The Council finds:

1.  The City entered into Contract No. 34320 in the amount of $156,328 on July 17, 2002 for Emmons Architects to provide architectural and engineering services for the design and construction of Fire Station 27.

2.  The contract was amended on March 24, 2004 for additional services related to receiving a Conditional Use Permit from Multnomah County in the amount of $47,952, and the contract time was extended two years to July 1, 2006.

3.  Additional services required for the design and construction of Fire Station 27 are described in the attached Contract Amendment No. 2 (Attachment No. 1)

4.  The fee for the additional services listed in paragraph 3 above is $23,058.

5.  The Bureau of General Services recommends that Contract No. 34320 with Emmons Architects be amended to increase the contract by $23,058 to provide additional architectural and engineering services for the design and construction of Fire Station 27 for a total contract amount of $227,338.

NOW, THEREFORE, the Council directs:

a.  The Mayor and Auditor are hereby authorized to amend Contract No. 34320 to increase the contract amount $23,058 for a total contract amount of $227,338 to provide additional architectural and engineering services for the design and construction of Fire Station 27.

b.  The Mayor and Auditor are hereby authorized to draw and deliver checks chargeable to the fiscal year 2004-05 Fire and Rescue Facilities GO Bond Construction Fund budget when demand is presented and approved by the proper authorities.

Section 2.  The Council declares that an emergency exists because a delay in proceeding with this amendment could result in additional expense to the City; therefore, this Ordinance shall be in force and effect from and after its passage by the Council.
