SUBJECT:  Establish a New Classification of Equestrian Trainer

The attached Ordinance creates a new classification, Equestrian Trainer, in order to reclassify an authorized position. This classification is necessary in order to appropriately classify and compensate a position which trains Police Bureau mounted patrol horses and the officers who ride them.

Background

This new classification is being established to properly classify and compensate a position responsible for training mounted patrol horses and their riders. The cost of the reclassification will be absorbed within the bureau’s budget allocation.

Recommendation

I recommend that the Mayor and City Council approve the creation of this new classification.
