SUBJECT:  Establish a New Nonrepresented Classification - Enterprise Business Systems Project Manager

The attached Ordinance creates a new classification of Enterprise Business Systems Project Manager, in order to classify a limited term position in the Office of Management and Finance (OMF). This classification is necessary in order to appropriately classify and compensate the position.

Background

This classification is being established to classify a limited term position in OMF which is responsible for managing the development and implementation of an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) System for the City of Portland. The ERP is a highly complex multi-faceted computer system that will support purchasing, human resources, finance and other management areas on a citywide basis. City Council has approved the acquisition and implementation of an ERP system.

The position to be reclassified to this new classifications is already authorized in the FY2004-05 Budget for OMF.

Recommendation

I recommend that the Mayor and City Council approve the creation of this new classification.
