ORDINANCE No. 178770

 

 

* Authorize an Intergovernmental Agreement with Multnomah County Fire Defense District for mutual aid assistance during disasters and other emergencies (Ordinance)

 

 

The City of Portland ordains:

 

Section 1. The Council finds:

 

1.  The Multnomah County Fire Defense District (MCFDD) seeks to improve emergency response capabilities throughout the County by entering into voluntary mutual aid agreements with local fire agencies.

 

2.  The City of Portland, through its Bureau of Fire, Rescue and Emergency Services (PF&R) desires to enter into this agreement to provide and/or receive periodic emergency assistance in disasters and other emergencies. The agreement, marked Exhibit A, is attached to this ordinance.

 

3.  This proposed mutual aid agreement is mutually advantageous to all parties for access to the personnel and equipment of the other parties, as needed.

 

4.  The provisions of ORS 190.110(1) authorize the City to enter into this agreement with MCFDD.

 

NOW, THEREFORE, the Council directs:

 

a.  The Commission of Public Works, Auditor and Fire Chief are authorized to execute this intergovernmental agreement for mutual aid assistance.

 

Section 2. The Council declares that an emergency exists because it is important that mutual aid assistance be available in the event of a disaster or other emergency; therefore, this ordinance shall be in force and effect from and after its passage by the Council.
