ORDINANCE No. 178696

 

*  Accept a grant from the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and Metro Parks and Greenspaces in the amount of $10,000 for Gabriel Park Vermont Creek Riparian Zone Project. (Ordinance)

 

The City of Portland ordains:

 

Section 1 The Council finds that:

 

1.  The City of Portland desires to conserve and enhance the wildlife habitat on Gabriel Parks Woods with native plants, shrubs, trees and grasses.

 

2.  The US Fish and Wildlife Service through Metro Regional Parks and Greenspaces provide grants to local government and community groups to create a more livable community. Funding is available in the amount of $10,000 to carry out needed restoration and enhancement projects.

 

3.  The grant requires a 1:1 match. Local match will be provided in the form of salary, benefits, mulch and services currently in the budget of Portland Parks and Recreation.  

 

4.  Additional match support will be forth coming in the form of volunteer labor.

 

NOW THEREFORE, The Council directs:

 

a.  The Mayor is hereby authorized to receive from the US Fish and Wildlife Service and Metro Regional Parks and Greenspaces for a grant in the amount of $10,000.

 

b.  The FY 2004/2005 budget is hereby amended as follows:

Section 2.
