ORDINANCE No. 178662

*Authorize addendum to contract with Michael Bostwick for outside counsel assistance (Ordinance; amend Contract No. 35178)

The City of Portland ordains:

Section 1.  The Council finds:

1.  Outside legal counsel is required to assist the City Attorney’s Office in the matter of Loraine Fischer Risk No. 2002-8005-01 SK.

2.  Attorney Michael Bostwick, entered into Legal Service Agreement No. 35178 to provide these services.

3.  To continue work on this matter, it is necessary to increase the amount of this agreement by $25,000 bringing the total amount to $55,000..

NOW, THEREFORE, the Council directs:

a.  The City Attorney is authorized to increase Legal Services Agreement No. 35178 to provide for such legal services in the amount not to exceed $55,000.

b.  If applicable, the provisions of City Code Chapter 5.68 are waived.

c.  The Auditor is authorized to draw and deliver checks in payment of legal services provided under this Legal Services Agreement.

Section 2.  The Council declares that an emergency exists in order to pay for legal services necessary in the matter of the Loraine Fischer v City of Portland; therefore, this ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage by the Council.
