RESOLUTION No. 36231

Accept the Swan Island Trails Action Plan and direct the Portland Office of Transportation to include four trails, The Waud Bluff, Willamette Bluff, Basin Avenue and Land Fill Trails in the next update of the Transportation System Plan. (Resolution)

WHEREAS The Swan Island Trails Action Plan was initiated by the Swan Island Transportation Management Association in partnership with the Office of Transportation, Bureaus of Planning, Environmental Services and Parks and Recreation with funding assistance from River Renaissance to examine trail connections on and adjacent to Swan Island; and

WHEREAS the upcoming River Renaissance Strategy includes an action that supports the Swan Island Trails Action Plan; and

WHEREAS four of the trails identified in the action plan were selected by the Swan Island Trails Steering Committee at its March 10, 2004 meeting as priorities to pursue at this time; and

WHEREAS the four trails will enhance the accessibility to Swan Island jobs, increase recreational opportunities and improve community access to the Willamette River,

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the City of Portland accepts as a report to Council the Swan Island Trails Action Plan, attached as Exhibit A;

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that Office of Transportation staff is directed to incorporate the descriptions of the Waud Bluff, Willamette Bluff, Basin Avenue and Land Fill Trails, as shown on the attached map Exhibit B, into the next update of the Transportation System Plan.
