AMENDMENTS TO WATERFRONT PARK MASTER PLAN

ADOPTED MAY 21, 2003

1.  On Page 53, the special events community and the Parks Planning staff have agreed on the following wording to replace the first bullet about fencing the Park: "Fencing may be needed in certain events for security and fundraising purposes. To ensure that the public access and aesthetic issues are addressed, fencing plans shall be developed as a collaborative effort by event organizers and the Park’s management committee and the fencing will be in place for the shortest time possible to still accomplish those goals."

2.  On Page 54, the special events organizers respect the right for east/west access for those people who want to get back and forth from the Esplande and Natio Parkway without visiting special events; however, we want any access to be balanced with the greater need to maintain the north/south crowd flow through the event. Thus, the special events community requests the Park’s management committee develop reasonable guidelines for this east/west access.

3.  On Page 72, we would like the Master Plan to clearly state that the historically large and important users of Waterfront Park (the Portland Rose Festival, The Bite and Cinco De Mayo) will be able to use the Meadow because those events will exceed the plaza area.

4.  In the conclusion of the plan, we request the Waterfront Park Management Team have at least two events representatives (one representing large events like the Rose Festival or Cinco) and one representing medium size events (like the Blues Festival or The Bite) and that the Management Team be formed no later than Jan. 1, 2004.
