ORDINANCE No. 178159

*Designate a Heritage Tree in the City of Portland (Ordinance).

The City of Portland ordains:

Section 1.  The Council finds:

1.  Section 20.40.150 of the City Code provides for the listing, designation and maintenance of Heritage Trees.

2.  The Urban Forestry Commission has recommended that the Council designate one tree on private property as a Heritage Tree.

3.  The owner of the tree on private property has consented to the designation.

NOW, THEREFORE, the Council directs:

a.  Under the provisions of PCC 20.40.150, the following tree is designated as a Heritage Tree:

 1.  The Garry Oak (Quercus garryana), located at 3969 N Overlook Terrace, owned by Marion L. Benson;

Section 2.  The Council declares that an emergency exists in that immediate effectiveness of this Ordinance is necessary to preserve these important historic resources; therefore, this Ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage by Council.
