The City of Portland ordains:

Section 1. The Council finds:

1.  The CAMI Grant provides funding from the Child Abuse Multi-disciplinary Intervention Account to Multnomah County District Attorney’s Office in accordance with the grant application and awards.

2.  The Police Bureau provides Detectives specially trained in conducting child abuse investigations including evening hours and on weekends to respond to child abuse referrals.

3.  The Multnomah County District Attorney’s Office agrees to reimburse the Police Bureau for overtime hours worked by the Detectives investigating child abuse cases during evenings and weekends.

4.  This amendment extends the agreement for the period July 1, 2003 through June 30, 2004 and may be renewed per CAMI. The agreement may be terminated by either party upon 30 days written notice. The total funds receivable under this agreement is $26,000.

NOW, therefore, the Council directs:

a.  The Mayor and City Auditor are hereby authorized to amend contract 51581 between the City of Portland and Multnomah County attached as Exhibit A.

Section 2. The Council declares that an emergency exists because delay in proceeding with this agreement will unnecessarily deprive the City of the benefits of this agreement; therefore this ordinance shall be in force and effect from and after its passage by the Council.
