ORDINANCE No. 178132

 

*Apply to Oregon Department of Transportation for Special Transportation Grant funds in the amount of $30,000 for development of a neighborhood specific map highlighting transit routes and stops, elderly and disabled residential facilities, medical facilities, grocery stores, community centers and libraries in the Interstate Corridor. (Ordinance)

 

The City of Portland ordains:

 

Section 1. The Council finds:

 

1.  The Public Transit Division of ODOT is offering grant money for providers of transportation for seniors and people with disabilities for vehicles and related equipment, planning or supplemental operating projects.

 

2.  Transportation is applying for $30,000 to develop a neighborhood specific map that highlights transit routes and stops, elderly and disabled residential facilities, medical facilities, grocery stores, community centers, and libraries in the Interstate Corridor.

 

3.  If this project receives the grant funding, the result will be increased public knowledge among the elderly and disabled citizens for transportation information in an easy to use and understanding format.

 

4.  $5,000 matching City funds are required.

 

NOW THEREFORE, the Council directs:

 

a.  The Transportation Director is hereby authorized to make an application to the Oregon Department of Transportation for a grant in the amount of $30,000 on behalf of the Bureau of Transportation System Management.

 

b.  The Council declares that an emergency exists since a delay in processing the application may disqualify the City from receiving funds; therefore, this Ordinance shall be in full force and effect from the date of its passage.
