Description

This vehicle has been requested by the Maintenance Bureau to repair sewer liners. It is an upgrade to replace an existing trailer, which is undersized and has been pulled out of service due to a broken tongue.

Description

The Drugs & Vice Division is due to replace their current raid van. They are interested in expanding the capabilities of this vehicle and request a walk-in type van to be used not only as a raid van for search warrants, but also for evidence processing at locations, for callouts for drug labs, and crimes scene processing. It will store and transport the supporting equipment to accomplish these tasks and will also allow for on-the-scene work by the officers. It will also be capable of transporting up to 8 officers at a time.

The Bureau is currently using a high cube van for this. The purchase is on the regular replacement cycle for the high cube van.

Affiliated Computer Systems (ACS) provides the photo radar equipment outfitting the two vans the Police Bureau Traffic Division uses for their photo radar program. ACS has offered the Bureau the indefinite loan of a mini van to use as backup if one of the City’s photo radar vans is out of service. Description

The Training and Safety Division is requesting to upgrade to ¾ ton pickups from the mini cargo vans that are now due for replacements. They have been having problems using the mini vans for transporting materials such as 4’x8’ sheets of plywood for their training drills. They also use these vans as support vehicles for their Strike Teams. In this capacity they transport bulky items necessary to keep the teams operating for four days. They have found the mini vans lack the carrying capacity for the quantity of equipment they are required to transport.
