ORDINANCE No. 177545

* Amend contract with TriMet to authorize an increase in funding for Streamline Program. (Ordinance; amend Contract No. 51340)

The City of Portland ordains:

Section 1.  The Council finds:

1.  On June 21, 2000, by Ordinance No. 174564, Council authorized an Intergovernmental Agreement with TriMet for work related to the Streamline Program in the City of Portland.

2.  Under the Streamline Program, TriMet and the Portland Office of Transportation have developed and constructed traffic control and street improvements designed to enhance operating efficiency along transit bus routes.

3.  The result of these improvements is to give TriMet bus riders faster, more convenient, comfortable and reliable services.

4.  The existing Intergovernmental Agreement with TriMet for work related to the Streamline Program does not expire until December 31, 2005.

5.  TriMet has executed a Modification No. 1 to Contract No. GA 000658MO (City Contract No. 51340) to increase funding by $300,000. This increase utilizes federal funds.

6.  This additional funding will support design services for construction of improvements at NE 39th and Halsey Street, Line 9 Streamline Project Site Improvements, and Line 14 Streamline Project Site Improvements.

7.  All other terms of the existing Intergovernmental Agreement will remain unchanged.

NOW, THEREFORE, the Council directs:

a.  The Mayor and Auditor are hereby authorized to execute in triplicate Modification No. 1 to the Intergovernmental Agreement for Management of the Streamline Program (City Contract No. 51340).

b.  The Auditor shall return one executed original to Young Park, TriMet, 710 NE Holladay Street, Portland, Oregon 97232, and one executed original to Kathryn Levine, B106/800.

Section 2. The Council declares that an emergency exists because a delay in the execution of the contract modification might result in delays to improvements to the transportation system and benefit to transit riders; therefore, this Ordinance shall be in full force and effect after its passage by the Council.
